chapter 2

i think in chapter two the author was talking about how bad conditoins in the war were and about how the soliders all wanted other solidiers items like clothes and watches he explained it by talking about how the other soliders wanted kemmerichs boots because they were fancy and his were all worn out and bad

    i agree with what your saying, but is that all that chapter 2 said? because i thought there was a deeper meaning behind that. i thought that when he took the boots, it just showed how tough and heartless war was.

    Like we talked about in class they felt bad but it's not like kemmermich could use them and it would help out a lot more on someone who needs and can use them. Now the watch was just cruel because that could have been an airlume or important to him.

    Right good boots were scarce and if they left the boots untill after he died they would have been stolen...just like his watch
